Deep green, turgid foliage, bountiful and assertive, protective of the soil and other plants, aromatic and medicinally active.  Perennial to 2m.  Stalks and leaves culinary, roots medicinal.  Sow Autumn or very early spring.  Cold-stored seed. A bit slow to start, buty then fast growing.  Plant in moist shady position.
